SCHEDULE
Monday, December 29: Crafting Our Future with Nina Keneally and Erick Ramos-Jacobo
Inspired by the works of Jeffrey Gibson and Jimena Sarno, this workshop transforms Kidspace into a site for performance and communal creation. Young performers will explore creative methods of community building through devised performance and visual art, engaging in collective expression and collaboration.
Tuesday, December 30: Cardboard Collagraph Printmaking with David Waxman
Drawing inspiration from Amy Yoes’ Hot Corners, this workshop invites young artists to explore the intersection of collage and printmaking. Through iterative experimentation with various media, participants will embrace abstraction and the freedom to move beyond figurative forms.
Wednesday, December 31: A Lesson in Painting with Donald Jackson
Guided by the monumental works of Vincent Valdez, this introductory workshop in color theory and form encourages young artists to experiment with foundational painting techniques. Through a hands-on exercise, participants will uncover the expressive possibilities and contemporary relevance of painting.
Thursday, January 1: Becoming a Weaver with Beth Davis
Inspired by Jimena Sarno’s curiosity for weaving, this workshop invites students to create a simple working loom as a tool for ongoing creativity and learning. In the spirit of Sarno’s community of teachers, learners, and makers, participants will take home a handmade loom for future exploration.
Friday, January 2: Building Zoetropes with Heidi Whitus
Rooted in MASS MoCA’s commitment to contemporary filmmaking, this workshop introduces young artists to the early technology of moving images. Participants will build a handheld animation toy, deepening their understanding of film through kinetic and imaginative learning.
